Happy Boxing Day, everyone! If I were in Ireland at the moment, I would be saying Happy Saint Stephen's Day, but in England it's Boxing Day.
This holiday dates back to the Middle Ages, when servants and tradesmen would receive gifts from their superiors to thank them for their service, on the day after Christmas. It is a secular holiday that always falls on the same day as the religious holiday, but if the 26th of December falls on a Sunday, Boxing Day is officially moved to the 27th.
It is widely known as a shopping day, much like the day after thanksgiving in the US.
Anyway, after a great flight I landed in England at 6:20 AM on Christmas morning. We had a great time first at the club and then for dinner at Helen's. tonight we are having dinner again, this time at Sheila's. It should be fun!
