Getting Ready 1

I never thought that it would be difficult to pay to volunteer my time abroad. I need two references, a letter of reference, a criminal background check, two medical forms and an application. I can’t really understand why I am applying for the trip after I’ve already paid for it, but I answered all of the questions, including “Living abroad can be a very challenging experience. What qualities do you have to adjust to the new living environment? Have you ever experienced culture shock? Please explain;” as well as various other probably unnecessary questions I’m not convinced anyone will read the response to.
Anyway, besides all of that nonsense, I’m trying to do my research as to what to expect when I get there (I guess to try to somewhat alleviate the culture shock I am sure to experience), as well as how to prepare before I leave and what to bring with me.
I have to ensure that I have up to date vaccinations for: Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Japanese Encephalitis, and Rabies.
Other infections to be cautious of: Malaria, Dengue, Chikungunya, Hepatitis E, Animal Bites and Wounds (hence the rabies vaccination), Herpes B virus is carried by Old World Monkeys that often convene around tourist places, and travelers’ diarrhea (what the travel agent called “Delhi Belly”).

On top of the various terrifying diseases I may contract and all of the special guidelines I'm reading from the federal government about women traveling to India, I am thrilled about going!
I'll soon be posting the ridiculous list of things that I have to bring with me, including the industrial deet bug spray and a whole bunch of anti-bacterial hand gel.
